Tenant decided to leave

My property agent informed me that the tenant has decided not to renew the lease when it ends in Jan 2015. To be honest, I was surprised. We did not give each other any problem, and I thought she would continue to rent the apartment.

I can't quite believe the reasons cited. I doubt that the tenant would be able to find an apartment that meets all the criteria she wants and still cheaper than what I'm charging.

Not sure how long it would take before my property agent is able to help me secure the next tenant. My plan to save up quickly will be affected.

<sigh> A lousy way to end the year 2014.

    1. Hi, thanks for your comment!

Actually, I think my rental charge is considered ok, taking into consideration the walking distance to the MRT and the proximity to the city area. I did a reality check against the URA's online records of rental contracts too. My rental charge is somewhere in the middle region when comparing with other units in my apartment block. I also compared with other nearby developments' similar-sized units, and my rental charge is also in the middle region... ...

I guess now the only thing I could do is to hope that my property agent can help me secure another tenant soon... ...

  2. Hi,

Maybe you can consider lowering your rental a little.

    Good luck! :)

    1. Hi, thank you for your well wishes! Looking at the current property market, I guess I would likely have to reduce my rental... ...
